ABOUT CODE ENFORCEMENT

Code Enforcement plays a vital role in maintaining the safety, health, and quality of life in our community. Our division is responsible for enforcing city ordinances that protect property values, prevent neighborhood deterioration, and ensure a safe and sanitary environment for all residents.

Our work covers a wide range of issues, including:

  • Property Maintenance: This includes overgrown grass and weeds, accumulation of trash and debris, and general neglect that can make a property unsafe or unsightly.

  • Zoning Violations: We address issues related to land use, such as operating a business without a permit in a residential area, parking large commercial vehicles in neighborhoods, or unpermitted construction.

  • Building and Housing Codes: We enforce standards for the upkeep of both residential and commercial properties, including issues like dilapidated structures, broken windows, or other conditions that could be a hazard.

  • Public Nuisances: This can include things like illegal signage, graffiti, or other activities that negatively impact the community.

Our goal is always to achieve voluntary compliance by working with property owners to resolve issues. We do this by investigating complaints, notifying property owners of violations, and giving them a reasonable amount of time to correct the problem.
